About Martina

Hi there! I’m Martina, married to the love of my life since 2016 and mommy to the most precious little boy. I love Disney, crafting, gardening, and horror movies. I have a well-rounded set of art skills that come not only from my formative education, but from over 20 years of experience as a graphic designer.

I have loved all things art and pretty stationery since I was a little girl. I cherished outings to A.I. Friedman in Port Chester, NY with

my dad, where he would buy me canvases, watercolors, pastels, and paint brushes. In high school, I submitted all my projects for art class late, but my teacher never penalized me because she knew I was working on them in painstaking detail until I was completely happy with them. 

 

I had a strong desire to turn my love for art into my livelihood. Attending the School of Art + Design at Purchase College in New York allowed me to gain valuable knowledge in graphic design, photography, painting and drawing, bookbinding, letterpress, and silkscreening. All of these influences are incorporated into my designs today, as are my love for music, movies, and books.

I founded Silently Screaming Designs in 2007, initially designing a steady stream of posters for local punk and rock shows. But

when my aunt asked me to design my cousin’s baby shower invitations, I fell in love with creating custom invitations. After that, several friends reached out for custom stationery and my business wasborn. I understand that every event’s story is unique and

I love the challenge of capturing its essence through thoughtful design, meticulous attention to detail, and a collaborative creative process with my clients. 

 

In 2020, I decided the invitation sector of my company needed its own unique name and I chose "Bella Giornata Paper Co"—which is Italian for "beautiful day." I want to make something special for my client's most beautiful days! It is a great challenge to create the perfect stationery for important events in someone's life, and it brings me joy to be able to do so.
